Bianca Chandler has 25 years of industry experience and is on a mission to empower salon owners  to offer elevated experiences while simplifying their business. She shares her tips to client retention without the faff.

After 25 years behind the chair, I finally stopped doing what I was taught and that’s when everything changed. You don’t need to keep adding more services, you need intention. There’s a revolution happening in salons right now and it has nothing to do with adding a new treatment menu.

For years, the industry conversation has been the same: more services, more revenue streams, more complexity, more training, more stock, more decisions. But what if the answer isn’t more? What if the most powerful decision a salon owner can make right now is to stop, simplify, and offer something most clients have never actually experienced, the feeling of being truly prioritised?

I’ve been a hairdresser for 25 years. The truth I’ve come to, the one I wish someone had told me earlier,  is this: clients don’t come back because of your service menu. They come back because of how you made them feel.

The last thing any salon owner needs is more complexity. Rising costs, staffing challenges, clients with less time and higher expectations,  the pressure is real. So what if one product could anchor a scalp oiling treatment, a hand massage, a temple ritual? Less stock to invest in. More treatments to offer. More reasons for clients to return.

This isn’t about turning your salon into a spa. It’s about weaving moments of real restoration into the appointments you’re already doing, and doing it in a way that every single member of your team can deliver, whether they’re employed, self-employed, or working solo. No specialist training. No complicated protocols. Just simple, intentional moments that make a client feel like the only person in the world for an hour.

The world has changed. The salon can too!

We were taught that growth means adding more. But the world has evolved. Clients can go anywhere now. The question is no longer what can you offer, it’s how do you make them feel something they can’t get anywhere else?

A simple pre wash oil treatment woven into a blow dry. A complimentary hand exfoliation while colour develops. A temple massage before the appointment finishes. These aren’t extras, they’re experiences. And they’re the difference between a client who visits and a client who never wants to leave.

The salons that will thrive aren’t the ones with the most on their menu. They’re the ones with the most intention behind every appointment.

This is my mission…

I want to see salon owners stop overcomplicating and start reconnecting, with their clients, with their purpose, and with the extraordinary power of simplicity. Sustainable self-care for busy lives. Inclusive wellbeing for every client who walks through your door.

This isn’t an overhaul of everything you’ve built, it’s not a rebrand or rebuilding your business model, it’s simply adding more feeling to what you are already doing.

It was those years behind the chair and running her own business that showed her what the industry was missing, not more services, but more simplicity. That conviction led her to found Serenity Hair Health & Wellbeing, a multi-use natural wellbeing range designed to help salon owners offer elevated, feelgood experiences without the complexity, and help clients bring that same simplicity into their everyday lives.
