London Hairdresser of the Year finalist Davide Spinelli from Gina Conway Salons Talks Us Through His Stunning Collection

We LOVE looking at the finalist collections in the British Hairdressing Awards and with London Hairdresser of the Year being one of the most hotly contested and prestigious categories, we were thrilled to get a sneak peek at this one from Davide Spinelli at Gina Conway Aveda Lifestyle & Spas.

The Gina Conway team has had quite a year, appearing on 10 award shortlists, 5 of which they’ve already won. Davide told us,

“Studying Space 1 is the result of my love for contemporary art and cinematography. In 1999 on a trip to New York, I discovered contemporary art, especially the work of Lucio Fontana. It opened up a different world around me; being creative wasn’t about reproducing something you have seen or experienced before, but creating something truly unique. I began to experiment with the idea of space, inspired by Lucio Fontana’s work ‘Concept Spaziale, Attest’. The craftsmanship and skills of cinematography has captured my curiosity since a young age. The cool, crisp tones of period films and TV of shows last year, like Chernobyl, have intrigued me. I thought if I used similar tones, it would give a modern and contemporary feel to the collection.”

Davide Spinelli

Davide has been a hairstylist for over 20 years. His hard work led to his nominations as a finalist of Hairdressing Journal, British Hairdressing Awards, London Hairdresser of the year 2019 and a finalist in THE BIG ONE Awards. In January 2020, Davide became CEO of Davide Spinelli Education. His dream is to help hairdressers around the globe to achieve their goals, passing on this wealth of knowledge and giving confidence and inspiration to all he teaches.
