Founded in 1853 (yes, it really is that old – what a caring industry we are!), The Hairdressers’ Charity is perhaps more commonly remembered as the Hair & Beauty Benevolent (HABB) and is now rebranding to the Hair and Beauty Charity, reflective of the work the charity does in both sectors. Anyone in need within these industries can access help for many different reasons, to support themselves or their families in a time of need. Check out this video to learn about some of the wonderful ways the charity has helped people…
The rename will expand the charity’s visibility to incorporate the full spectrum of hair, barbering and beauty industries, which it already assists.
The charity relies on support from corporate sponsors but would love to hear from further hair and beauty brands interested in supporting the charity. The current financial sponsors include L’Oreal Professionnel, Wella Professionals, Salon Services, GHD, Schwarzkopf, Goldwell, A.S.P, BaByliss PRO and NHF/NBF.
Fundraising from hair and beauty professionals is also vital to raise much needed income and to increase the charity’s awareness. There are many ways you can support, including making a regular donation, organising your own fundraiser (for example, Hooker & Young recently organised a sponsored dog walk) or signing up to one of a wide variety of annual events on offer – bike ride, golf day, dedicated fundraising weeks, a charity ball, and raffle.
Co-President of Hair & Beauty Charity, Samantha Grocutt comments, “This rebrand is a natural progression for us since we became a nationally recognised charity in 2016. We have always supported those in the beauty and barbering industries and now it helps to clarify our focus.”
Philip Sharp, Co-President of Hair & Beauty Charity continues, “Our mission is to help hair and beauty professionals in need. We offer financial support to individuals and their families facing difficult times due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, bereavement and financial hardship. Our beneficiaries are supported with regular payments or one-off grants to make their lives a little easier.”
