November is fast approaching, which means it’s time to grow those connectors, and stock up on the styling wax.
Movember comes once a year, but highlights a serious issue that men deal with everyday. And there are a number of ways you can get involved.
First and foremost, grow that tash!
Your aim is to get noticed, so the more outrageous the better. Break the ice instantly, become the talk of the town, get stopped by strangers in the street.
There are also fundraising events taking place across the UK, including sponsored runs, mo meet ups, and challenges.
Whatever you do, use the attention to promote the cause. There are millions of men around the world who need our support.
Here are some facts:
- Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, in the UK.
- Globally 1.3 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year.
- 333,500 men in the UK are living with, or have battled the disease.
- Spot the signs of testicular cancer early and there is a 95% survival rate!
Mental health is also in the limelight this November, and has never been more relevant. The past 18 months has been a tough ride for most of us, but more so for those who live alone and have been isolated from family and friends.
Here are some signs you should look out for if you think someone is struggling:
- they avoid social events and activities they usually enjoy
- have difficulty speaking, thinking clearly or making decisions
- have difficulty remembering or concentrating on things
- use more tobacco, alcohol or other drugs than usual
- feel tired all the time have no appetite and lose weight, or eat too much and gain weight
