Movember has funded more than 1250 men’s health projects since it was established in 2003 and the charity aims to tackle the issues that are most likely to cause death in young men, raising money for projects around mental health issues and suicide prevention, testicular cancer and prostate cancer.
Now a well-recognised event in the annual charity calendar, Movember encourages people to raise money by cultivating a moustache, or by hosting a Mo-Ment – a fundraising event which enables the facially follicular challenged to also get involved!
Luke Benson, celebrity groomer to the likes of Roman and Martin Kemp, Joe Jonas, Tom Grennan and more has been doing the challenge himself, and was affected personally when a close friend tragically took his own life. Luke says, “It makes sense for us as hairdressers and barbers to get involved in Movember as a charity, and I get asked a lot for my moustache tips at this time of year. Advise your clients to use the right products when they’re growing facial hair, even if it is only temporary – it’s really essential to exfoliate the face to free any potential ingrown hairs and soften any stubble. A good trimmer will keep it in shape, remove any stray hairs that start to overhang the lip and ensure it’s tidy during the tedious growth stage.
“A beard balm will keep moustache hairs soft – Keune Beard Balm is my favourite, and a good moisturiser will refresh the skin and reduce any shaving bumps.”

We’ve rounded up some Movember essentials for your shopping list…
