“Number one…your physical health is so important and exercise is the only way. You need to find what works for you but it must get the blood going and elevate your heart rate. It can be a run, a brisk walk, or anything to increase your mood by releasing the feel good hormones called endorphins. So, get moving!
Number two…now to look after your mental state, you want to make sure that you’re having good sleep. Sleep is really, really important. It sets you up for the day and puts you in a good mood. To set yourself up for a good night’s sleep, go easy on the screen time and start reading which will help you wind down and the bonus is that it will increase your cognitive function too. To support your mental health, spend time with people that you love and that support you, such as your family and keep away from toxic people.
Number three…now to improve your emotional health, it’s good to do good deeds, do selfless acts. You also want to be making sure that you practice self-love. Make sure that you give praise and express gratitude. Don’t think of the things that you don’t have and just express gratitude for the things that you do have. Look around you and think of all the things that you are grateful for. Now this is going to tap into your central reward system and really release dopamine.
Anything that releases the feel good hormones – serotonin, dopamine and endorphins – these are the things that we’re looking for and these tips will help.”
