A new digital campaign has recently been launched by The Hairdressers’ Charity, an independent service dedicated solely to helping hairdressing professionals and ex-hairdressers in the UK.
The #InTheirWords campaign consists of a series of short films which share the personal stories of those who have benefited from the support that the charity provides.
Featuring a range of recognisable faces from the industry, including hairdressers, barbers, trade media journalists, manufacturer representatives and industry influencers, the film delivers a powerful message.
With over 100 long-term beneficiaries currently, The Hairdressers’ Charity provides help in numerous ways, depending on the recipient’s needs.
The official charity for the hairdressing industry offers emergency one-off grants and quarterly payments, as well as training and equipment to help people learn new skills.
Samantha Grocutt, Co-President of The Hairdressers’ Charity, said: “This campaign helps explain what we do, and how the money we raise supports those urgently in need of our help. Most of us will never need the help of the charity, but there’s a growing demand and the charity is needed now more than ever. We really hope that this campaign will gather momentum across social media and the great work that charity undertakes becomes more well known.”
Philip Sharp, Co-President of The Hairdressers’ Charity, added: “Although the charity has been established since 1853, there are still people within our industry who don’t understand what we do and how we help those in need.”
The charity’s philosophy has always been to provide financial assistance and guidance for hairdressers. It relies upon support from corporate sponsors and donations from the industry to fund its beneficiaries.
