A hair salon has ditched cash as they contain ‘Animal Fat’

Glasshouse Salon, based in Hackney, prides itself in only using products that are vegetarian and not tested on animals. Business owner, Olivia Crighton, decided to go cashless for a few reasons – one being the efficiency of being a cashless business and secondly because she wanted her business to not use banknotes that contained animal fat.

Olivia says, “I was also shocked to find out that the new banknotes contain animal fat – something that is at odds with my businesses’ ethos.” Along with moving with the times and pushing for innovative solutions to carry her ethos of a vegan business, Olivia adds “No cash means a much smoother banking process and helps ensure higher safety of the salon.”
