Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
A form of permanent hair removal that’s growing fast in the UK beauty scene, laser hair removal, or IPL, is a procedure that uses a laser – an intense, pulsating beam of light – to remove unwanted hair from areas of the body. The laser beam passes through the skin to an individual hair follicle, and the intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, inhibiting future hair growth. It’s most effective in people with light skin and dark hair, however, new forms of laser hair removal have been developed to cater to darker-skinned clients too.
As a beauty therapist who specialises in laser hair removal, you’ll no doubt already be aware of some of the severe risks that can be associated with the procedure. Including skin irritation and pigment changes, it can also cause blistering, crusting and even scarring and skin discolouration in patients whose skin is too dark. And if a client happens to experience some of these side effects, and chooses to seek compensation from you, it could run you in for thousands of pounds, potentially bankrupting your business.
But, you can protect yourself. With Salon Gold’s Beauty Therapist insurance policy, you’ll receive treatment risk insurance as standard, which means in the event something like that does happen, you’ll be covered – because your business is too important to not protect.
N.B. For laser & IPL insurance, you need to take out a Salon Gold Beauty Salon or Beauty Therapist insurance policy and add lasers & IPL as an optional additional beauty treatment. To see the range of beauty treatments we can cover, visit our Beauty Salon or Freelance Beauty Therapist page.
