Clear Hearing

A widely practised therapy, ear candles are made from cloth soaked in paraffin or beeswax. During an ear candling treatment, a hollow candle is inserted into one end of the client’s ear canal. The other end of the candle is lit and the heat travels down the hollow part of the candle, melting the ear wax. The ear wax and toxicants are then supposedly drained out by the vacuum created by the candle.

If you specialise in ear candling, no doubt you’re already aware that while it can be a hugely successful treatment, it can have some pretty large risks. Burns, perforated eardrums and blockage of the ear canal are just some of the dangers you face as a therapist practising this treatment.
