Fitness Trackers To Replace Toys In Happy Meals

By Salon Gold on August 15th, 2016

McDonalds have definitely come a long way from offering toys in their happy meals. It has been reported by Digital Trends that are now giving out fitness trackers in the U.S. and Canada. Jennifer Harris is the Director of Marketing initiatives at the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at the University of Connecticut.  She speaks out to Live Science: ‘’Giving kids a fitness tracker isn’t going to make up for the fact that they’re eating a Happy Meal. With this initiative, McDonald’s is trying to make parents think that these meals are good for kids.” This could be a good step forward in motivating children to engage in more physical activity. Not only will the fitness trackers monitor calorie consumption but also the distance they have walked or run.  They can also track heartbeat and quality of sleep. In recent years, the fitness of children has certainly been a concern for parents.  As a result, more and more parents are engaging the services of a Nutritional Therapist to monitor diet.  Or possibly a Fitness Instructor to help with exercise in a bid to get their children more active.
