Comprehensive insurance at a price you can afford
Waxing not only helps remove hair but also makes your customers feel like a million dollars. Performed by a professional like yourself, your client’s skin is left hairless and silky smooth. However, there are obviously risks involved with waxing your customers’ bodies, especially when hot wax is used. This is why every professional who offers waxing needs to have a comprehensive insurance package in place to protect them if a client chooses to make a claim.
Using hot wax on someone’s body comes with a risk of burning their skin, as well as potentially leading to allergic reactions to or skin infections due to opened pores. Should this occur, you may face a legal claim, including expensive fees and high compensation costs that could destroy your business and leave you unable to work.
Here at Salon Gold, we want to offer our customers tailored insurance policies to protect their businesses, ensuring that they will be completely covered if an accident does unfortunately happen, and letting them focus on what’s most important: their customers.
What Do You Get With Our Waxing Insurance?
As standard, our comprehensive insurance packages for professionals automatically include standard covers such as public liability, product liability (up to £5 million) and professional treatment risk insurance (up to £3 million). At Salon Gold, you can also add optional policies if they suit your business requirements. For instance, you will benefit from employer’s liability insurance should you hire anyone — indeed, this is a legal requirement if employing staff — as well as money cover to protect you financially, and stock & equipment in the event of damage or loss. We also offer personal accident insurance to cover you financially in the event that an accident leaves you unable to work.
At Salon Gold, our clients can enjoy tailor-made insurance packages, providing the best quotes possible for their insurance needs. If you’re self-employed, and offer waxing as a service, it’s down to you to ensure you’re suitably insured for this treatment and protected at all costs. With a Salon Gold insurance policy, you only need to worry about offering your customers the best service possible, safe in the knowledge that our comprehensive cover will safeguard your business against any potentially costly claims.*This price is for a £3m public, products and professional treatment risk liability cover (up to £5m available) and £10k financial loss cover for a sole trader. It includes insurance premium tax and our admin charge. ALL customers will pay this amount UNLESS they choose to take out additional optional covers or treatments which are priced separately.

Waxing insurance FAQs
What insurance do I need for waxing?
At a minimum, you’ll need public liability, products liability and treatment risk cover, plus any additional policies as you see fit. Public liability insurance will be the most important type of insurance you need, as it protects you from compensation claims made against you and your business regarding injury or damage to a client or their property. Products liability insurance covers you in the event that a claim is made against the products you use or supply to your clients, and treatment risk cover protects you against any problems that may arise as a direct result of your waxing treatment such as burned skin. You may find yourself in hot water financially if you don’t have comprehensive insurance cover in place, as these claims tend to be very expensive to settle
How much is waxing insurance?
Your waxing insurance policy will be priced according to your individual circumstances, factoring in your claims history, whether you employ anybody, your experience, and any optional covers you choose to add on. Typically, this starts at around £52 per year, including public liability and treatment risk as standard. However, the best way to find out how much you’ll pay is to get in touch with us for a free quote. You can do this directly through the Salon Gold website.
What can I do to prevent clients from making a claim?
While accidents can sometimes be unavoidable, you can reduce the risk by following the relevant health and safety measures. This may mean testing the temperature of the wax on the client’s skin before applying it fully, which can ensure they are happy with the heat, and asking whether they have any product allergies. You should always carry out risk assessments, sterilise equipment before use, and manage expectations through clear communication with clients.
