Comprehensive insurance for wax technicians

Wax On Wax Off

Waxing is now one of the most in-demand beauty treatments around, helping customers to feel beautiful by giving them smooth and clear skin. However, as a wax therapist, although your aim is to make customers feel good, there’s also a chance something could go wrong — allergic reactions to the wax and accidental tearing of the skin to name just two potential mishaps. Because of these risks, it really does pay to protect yourself and your business.

In such a situation, your customer could sue you, resulting in an expensive compensation claim that harms your bottom line. The only way to keep yourself safeguarded is to have a comprehensive insurance policy, which is where Salon Gold’s dedicated waxing insurance package comes into play. Giving you all the protection you require, regardless of whether you’re a freelance wax technician or have your own premises, you can focus on the job at hand without worrying about the financial consequences of a mistake.

Waxing insurance trusted by industry experts

Advanced waxing insurance

A common practice in most beauty salons, advanced waxing includes treatments such as bikini, Brazilian and French waxing. It uses warm wax and cloth strips to remove hair from more delicate areas on the body, and relies on a mixture of natural beeswax and tall oil to achieve this.

Paraffin wax insurance

Paraffin wax treatments involve using soft wax to refresh the skin. During the treatment, problem areas of skin are coated in paraffin wax and then covered with single-use socks or gloves. This helps to retain the heat and warmth to maximise the moisturisation. After 15 minutes or so, the wax is removed, and clients are given a light massage before a luxurious cream or oil is applied.

What’s included…

from £52.04* per year
* This price is for a £3m public, products and professional treatment risk liability cover (up to £5m available) and £10k financial loss cover for a sole trader. It includes insurance premium tax and our admin charge. ALL customers will pay this amount UNLESS they choose to take out additional optional covers or treatments which are priced separately.

What is waxing insurance?

Salon Gold’s waxing insurance is tailored specifically towards your needs. As part of it, you’ll automatically receive public liability cover, which protects you from claims related to third party injuries or property damage arising from your business activities. Because this doesn’t cover claims regarding professional services, we also throw in professional treatment risk insurance should something go wrong during a waxing session.

Products liability and financial loss insurance are also part of a standard Salon Gold policy, though what you actually receive as standard depends on whether you work from your own premises, or offer waxing on a mobile or freelance basis.

As well as the automatic covers you get as standard, you may want to add some optional covers to create the strongest waxing insurance policy possible. Again, what you opt for depends on your business setup — for example, those working from a premises will probably want buildings cover, while mobile wax technicians will likely need stock & equipment insurance. Waxing Insurance FAQs

Do wax technicians need insurance?

All businesses need to protect themselves with insurance, and wax technicians are no different. This is especially crucial considering the risks involved with offering wax treatments — all it takes is one injury to a customer for you to be liable for a huge compensation claim.

How much is waxing insurance?

How much waxing insurance costs depends on your individual circumstances and if you add any optional covers. Cover starts from £52.04 per year, and includes public liability and treatment risk insurance. The quickest way to see how much you’ll pay is to get a free quote by clicking on “Get a Quote” above.

Why is public liability insurance important for wax technicians?

Public liability is one of the most crucial covers for a wax technician like yourself, as it protects you from any unexpected accidents. Paying out for any personal injury or property damage claims against you resulting from your business’s actions, it can be the difference between you going under or staying afloat.

For instance, say a customer trips over equipment you’ve left out and injures themselves, or, while working at a client’s home, you accidentally knock over a valuable possession and damage it. Claims resulting from such scenarios can be incredibly expensive, but with public liability insurance, your insurer and not you will foot the bill for them.
