Radio Frequency (RF)

After the reduction of subcutaneous fat layers, the skin tends to lose elasticity and becomes more lax. A radio frequency treatment can be extremely effective in this situation, penetrating deep into the skin. The heating effect induces collagen fibres to contract immediately, pulling and tightening the skin. The metabolism of fibroblasts is also increased, producing a longer term effect as new collagen fibres continue to grow. Radio frequency is used alone mainly to firm, tighten and lift the skin, and to reduce wrinkles.

When used together with other technologies such as IPL and infra red, it can be used to enhance a variety of treatments, including hair removal, photorejuvenation, pigment and vascular problems, acne scarring and cellulite.

Cavitation Using Low Intensity Ultrasound

In cavitation, an ultrasound transducer is applied in a circular motion over the excessive layers of subcutaneous fat. It delivers a concentrated, low frequency ultrasonic beam, which liquefies the fat deposit.

The ultrasound energy selectively disrupts delicate fat cell membranes through thousands of microscopic implosions. A major benefit is that it doesn’t cause any damage to surrounding tissues and is completely painless and harmless.

The emulsified fat within the fat cells gets broken down into small particles that the body can naturally metabolise.

Sometimes called non-surgical ultrasound liposuction, cavitation is particularly useful for stubborn fat deposits that seem to be resistant to diets and workouts.

Radio Frequency & Cavitation: The Risks

Unfortunately, these treatments are not without their risks. These include tight skin, mild redness, swelling, bumps, blisters and nausea.

Another potentially serious hazard is “depression” –  a sunken appearance in the treated area. It’s thought to be caused by excessive heating of the underlying tissue causing fat to either shrink or tighten. If you’re unlucky enough to have a client affected by this, a claim for compensation could easily run into thousands of pounds.

But there is hope in your time of need. Here at Salon Gold, we understand that sometimes things can go pear-shaped without your intention. That’s why we offer treatment risk insurance cover as standard across our Salon Gold Beauty Therapist policies, so if something does go wrong in the treatment room, you’ll still be covered by us. That’s a little less worry for you, and a bit more time you can spend doing what you love.

N.B. For radio frequency & cavitation insurance,  you need to take out a Salon Gold Beauty Salon or Beauty Therapist insurance policy and add radio frequency or cavitation as an optional additional beauty treatment.
