We’ve seen a lot of beauty trends so far this year. From Snapchat-filter make up to confetti hair, 2017 has been chock full of beauty innovations that have made us fall in love with things, we never knew we needed. And now it’s the time of one of the most beautiful nature-inspired trends to take centre-stage – it’s the dawn of terrarium eye make-up.
Started by London-based 19-year-old make-up artist, Ellie Costello, the trend involves using blissful blooms and 3-D appliqués on the eye lid to create stunning, natural displays. Dubbed terrarium eye make-up by Marie Claire, it imitates the gorgeous look of an English garden in summer.
Each look is completed with a blossoming array of floral blooms, including forget-me-nots, gipsofila, and a sprinkling of pretty petals, and accentuated with tonal eyeshadow, matching mascara and, where necessary, a sprinkling of glitter. The results are simply breath-taking to behold:
?Here's another shot of my Forget Me Not Creation. I can't believe how much love this look got – I'm so happy that you all loved it? Also I have decided I am going to start a YouTube channel where I will be sharing tutorials of my makeup creations – I've just ordered some professional lighting and a back drop … I can't wait to start filming for you all???
?I had such fun today demoing two of my terrarium eyes at work @maccosmeticsuk • here is a shot of the second look I did using all @maccosmetics – Eyeshadows in Deep Truth, Lunar and Atlantic Blue • Dazzleshadow in Say It Isn't So • Eyeliner in Prussian • Clear Lipglass • for the white splashes I mixed Gesso Eyeshadow and Fix+ together to create a liquid then used a mascara wand to flick • Young Attitude Retromatte for dots • Flowers are all real, I got them from a beautiful flower stall right by my work called @iglooflowers at Clapham Junction station , loved the flowers thank you !! • Thank you @hemblebee for modelling ????
Going a step further, Costello has even done full-face terrarium make-up versions, that are effortlessly artistic. Her designs truly show that make-up is art.
