The Latest Looks For Spring: Hair Trends To Watch Out For This Season

Style Director, Gustav Fouche, of top Marylebone hair salon, Michael Van Clarke, has created looks for red-carpet and runway shows, editorial shoots and TV commercials. In this exclusive blog for Salon Gold, he shares with us the hair trends to watch this season.

After a long, dark winter, we could all do with an injection of excitement into our lives; and what better way to start off the new season than with our hair. Winter and its cold air wreaks havoc with the condition of our hair, so kickstart your spring by treating it to some well deserved TLC and invest in a good hydrating treatment. Once you have your hair back to tip-top condition, play around with these top hair trends for 2018:

Keep it curly

For all of us with curly hair, embrace it even more. Ditch the straightening irons and relaxers and keep those curls bouncy. We want to see you rocking those gorgeous ringlets.

Big blow dry

A quick look at the catwalk shows the 80s are making a massive comeback. This time around we’re not recreating Dallas though – keep the volume soft with a high-quality finish and you’ll steal the show at every party you attend from London to Cannes.

We all saw and loved the Alexa Chung bob, but it’s time to move on. Keep the length a little longer and add a soft and sexy fringe. Bobs with fringes are at the height of fashion this spring. A very blunt fringe can look heavy on a bob, so keep it textured to stay looking fresh.

School plaits

We have been seeing so many different kinds of plaits recently. For spring, keep it simple with either a french, fishtail or dutch. Keep the plaits soft and not too structured by pulling them out.

Spring is the time to be fabulous, and what better way than to play with hair accessories. Plain colour scrunchies that aren’t too big, and a hair band or head scarf are great ways to change up your look this spring. My absolute favourites are barrettes. Wear the hair natural and pulled to the side to give you that extra girly look; don’t be scared to let the barrette do the talking and go and have fun in the sun.
