As predicted, the Royal Wedding gathered the world and his camera in high anticipation. Although Meghan Markle, our new princess and Duchess of Sussex, was of course due to be the centre of attention in every way possible, the elite guests of the bride and groom also stepped up their game to compete in the glamour stakes.
For this famous wedding, the hair and beauty looks were a vital accessory to the fashion choices of the rich and famous and we spotted a few that we just had to talk about.
Obviously, our first mention is going to be the bride herself, Meghan Markle. The new princess looked ravishing in a sleek, satin Givenchy gown and five-foot veil, but her hair and make-up truly spoke for itself. Meghan opted for an incredibly natural look – possibly one of the most natural royal or celebrity hair and make-up looks of all time. With minimal foundation, her natural glow shined through, finished with a completely natural lip and very soft, blended eye-make-up with natural lashes. Hair was chicly swept into a low chignon and simply tucked behind the ears, letting her borrowed royal tiara do all the talking.
Opting for a bright, mustard yellow, head-to-toe outfit, Amal Clooney’s make-up look followed suit in terms of boldness. Sporting a thick sweep of black liner on her lids, Amal also opted for false lashes and splashes of bright highlighter under her lower lash line and at the inner eye. She finished the look with a pink lip and exaggerated blush to match.
Lady Kitty Spencer
Cousin of the groom, Lady Kitty Spencer, arrived in royal style. This prim and proper look was styled to perfection, including a chic low bun and flawlessly made-up complexion.
Looking absolutely stunning in pastel pink, this tennis pro proved she’s a winner of the styles stakes too. Serena Williams paired her feminine midi dress with an ultra-high ponytail, which fell to her knees and pretty make-up tones to pair. Using lots of soft pink on the lips and eyes, this was a look we’ve not seen on Serena in the past and the cameras were loving it.
Matching her suit with her fascinator wasn’t enough for Priyanka Chopra. She gets extra props from us for also teaming her look with her make-up. Featuring soft lilacs and pinks, her eye shadow and lip popped beautifully next to her pastel attire.
She was slated in the press for the lack of her smile, but sometimes you’ve just got to say; look, she doesn’t smile much, get over it! We think Victoria Beckham looked divine and her hair and make-up was flawless. Opting for a simple and sophisticated low ponytail, she let her shorter front strands wisp loosely, which softened the overall look. Paired with a natural, yet glossed lip and brown palette eye make-up, there’s no wonder this ex-Spice Girl made our list.
With so much to look at during the Royal Wedding, it was a struggle to produce a short-list. The style stakes were certainly heightened and the celebrities and royals alike made sure that if you weren’t double taking at Meghan, you were definitely side-eyeing them.
