National Fitness Day, 7th September 2016, is one of the biggest and most visible annual celebrations of physical activity of the year. In recent years we’ve had Zumba, Spinning, TRX and Crossfit trending, all of which have had an explosion of interest. There are so many different types of fitness that there is an activity to suit all interests and fitness levels. To celebrate we discuss some of the biggest fitness trends for 2016.

With our Fitness Gold insurance brand, we cover the new fitness trends and even the old school classics. Check out the activities we cover under our Personal Trainer insurance and Fitness Instructor insurance packages.

Boxercise

Boxercise is a circuit class including boxing style stations and techniques.  This form of exercise is loved by the likes of Jennifer Garner, Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Anniston. The workout uses the whole body movement, agility and momentum to enhance muscle definition. It is also beneficial for coordination, stamina, balance and timing.

HIIT (high-intensity interval training)

This fitness trend has been around for a while for personal trainers but still proves to be as popular as ever to help burn more fat, improve endurance and to build strength. HIIT are shorter yet more intense workouts. They are more time efficient and once done correctly, are a more effective way to get into shape and improve your fitness levels. If you haven’t worked out in a while, steer clear of HIIT until you have built a base.

Kettlebells

So this may be a piece of equipment but toning your derriere is a trend that will never go away. Glutes are the new core as the use of kettlebells can give you a strong and shapely backside which is good for form and function. A good set of glutes is the foundation of just about any physical activity and using this piece of equipment can get you fitter, stronger and keep you injury-free.

Piloxing

This workout has made its way over from the U.S as a new way of getting fit.  It is loved by celebrities including Vanessa Hudgens, Hilary Duff and Heather Morris (Glee). Piloxing combines moves from pilates and boxing to help burn fat and body sculpt. You wear weighted gloves throughout the workout to help work the muscles further.

Jazzercise

Jazzercise is a pulse-pounding fitness program that helps you get the results – fast! This form of exercise helps to burn calories – between 430 and 700 calories after 60 minutes – depending on weight.  It also helps you focus on your core strength, gives you more energy and is suitable for all fitness levels. This is one of the most fun fitness trends so watch out for Jazzercise classes in your area!

Fitness insurance cover

With the rise in popularity of health and fitness, we’ve seen a rise in the demand for personal trainers and the services they offer.

If you are a Fitness Instructor, Gym Instructor or Personal Trainer, make sure you have the right cover in place should the worse happen.  What would you do if a client suffered an injury whilst being instructed by you?  What if a member of the public tripped over your equipment?  In today’s litigious society, you should always be protected.  Our Fitness Gold insurance policy does just that.  We offer public liability insurance and malpractice insurance at £3,000,000 as standard.  So whether you operate a gym and need gym insurance or work as a self-employed personal trainer, we can help you.

Fitness Gold provides insurance for fitness professionals. See information on our fitness instructor insurance and personal trainer insurance cover.
