We’re only just kicking off the new year and 2018 is already proving to be onto a winner with the first official hair colour trend of the social sphere. Last year we saw colour, fun and creativity and the talent and the hair industry doesn’t seem to be letting the high standards slip anytime soon.

In case you don’t know, Halo Top is a range of low calorie and delicious ice cream; full of flavour and guilt-free, we love it! In fact, people are loving it so much that it’s inspired its very own hair trend.

The trend was born when Scruples Hair Care set 10 hair stylists the task of creating a collection of fabulous new looks, based on the flavours of Halo Top ice creams, using their colour products. From rainbow-esque Birthday Cake hair to understatedly tousled Cinnamon Roll, the stylists in question did not take the challenge lightly.

If you don’t run out for a pot of Halo Top ice cream after looking through these hair creations – we’ll be shocked!

Lemon cake

This lemon cake inspired creation was done by Megan Schipani, who must have heard what one of the biggest colour trends in hair is going to be this year (bright yellow hair) and nailed it. With richer tones through the roots and towards the tips, it’s bold brightness, but with dimension.

Sea salt caramel

Everyone knows that in the world of sweet treats, the latest thing is sea salt caramel. Colourist, Sadie Gray, is clearly one step ahead of the game though with this gorgeous interpretation of the Sea Salt Caramel Halo Top packaging. She added a tube of green dye and a dash of pink to her colour formula to give this colour its unique twist. The result? Beautifully dimensional beachy waves that’ll leave you wanting more.

Cinnamon roll

The Cinnamon Roll version keeps it a little more natural. Stylist, Brit Wright, used the sweet treat flavour to craft this swirling, highlighted creation of beautiful blonde. Lighter around the face and beachy waves to boot, we’re sure a fair few ladies will be bringing this image into the salon in the next few weeks. Stylists, watch out.

Birthday cake

If you’re going to have cake, it may as well be Birthday Cake, right? Well, the same applies here. Kristina Cheeseman opted for the annual dessert and pretty much hit the jackpot. With deep purple roots, fading out to soft (very on trend) pastel pink, she could have stopped there. But the stylist from St. Louis’ attention to detail drove her to add multi-coloured sprinkles too, in blue, green and orange, even adding a touch of gold; a nod to the Halo Top packaging. Love it!

Red velvet

If you love Red Velvet cake, look away now or risk running straight down to the salon. This dreamy creation was thought-up by stylist, Frances Garcia, who blended blondes with rose gold and maroon to form this oh-so-sweet ‘do.

Black cherry

This creation will have every rock-chic in the world pining after it. A cherry-balayage to a tee, this look by stylist Sydniiee is heavily inspired by the Black Cherry Halo Top packaging and we are obsessed.

With this mouth-wateringly good hair colour trend kicking off 2018 for us, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has got to bring. Ice-cream, cake, sweets; it’s definitely the best way to get your sugar-fix this new year.
