Everything we saw at Salon International

With the doors closed on Salon International for another year, we’ve come away inspired and awed by the host of incredible brands and talent on show. Packed with professionals hungry for education, we LOVED the shows going on around the Excel exhibition centre, including the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s stage, the Choose Hair Young Talent Stage, and HJ’s own stages with a ton of original ideas for men and women’s hair.

The stand out event came from Schwarzkopf Professional with an epic show in the auditorium packed with attendees from all over the globe. Rainbow Rooms International were celebrating a massive 40 years in business and working with Schwarzkopf, and delivered a stunning mix of bright colours, sharp cuts and candyfloss texture. British Hairdresser of the Year nominees Hooker & Young’s hypnotic performance set gorgeous clean blondes against a black and white backdrop.

Nick Irwin was next on stage, with the former global creative director of TIGI and now renowned session artist announcing his partnership with the Schwarzkopf family. Nick presented a host of male models wearing high fashion editorial looks – we couldn’t get enough of the glittery make-up!

The finale saw session stylist extraordinaire Tyler Johnstone & Inspire UK deliver a session themed show complete with an on-stage shoot. With an introductory showreel flashing up a who’s who of icons, we saw Tyler’s covers for the likes of Vogue, Harpers, GQ, David Beckham, Naomi Campbell, and we’re wooed by precision cuts, texture, hair painting and fashion.

We’ll be first in line to book tickets for next year – see you there!
