The Denim Takeover: Trends That Are Taking Us Right Back To The 90s

Double-denim is back – and we’re not talking 90s trousers trends. This year, it’s taken over Instagram and you can wear it anyway you like; clothes, hair, nails or make-up – you name it! Be it a jean-effect manicure or a frosted teal lip, all hail the best blue-inspired looks of 2017:

Next level nails

Forget finding that ultimate flattering jean cut – this is a one-size for all kinda fit. Doubling up as a perfectly pretty summertime mani or pedi, denim nail art is the hottest trend to slay our Instagram feeds this year. Created by @misspopnails, a matte-based polish is firstly applied as the undercoat, later adding a little rhinestone bling and super-cute stitching detail for a chic, textured finish.  It’s this season’s must-have pair – frayed hems and all.

Denim dye

If denim-inspired acrylics just weren’t quite enough, here’s to the sleekest do to brace the summer season.  The upgrade to spring’s rainbow/ holographic hair fad, this gorgeous look combines pastel indigos with subtle metallic hues – creating a shimmering, multi-dimensional effect.  Worn in natural waves or last week’s super-cute bunches, it’s the hottest hair trend that is literally to dye for.

Beautiful blues

In true 70s style, bold blues are making their official palette comeback. Similar to the iconic disco-eye, they’re a great alternative to winters smoky-based shadows, adding depth and definition without the heaviness of dark grey or brown shades. Offset by a neutral lip, it’s the perfect additional glam to any party outfit!

Pearly pouts

Following on from the widely popular ‘platinum’ pout’, vibrant blue-based hues are also giving our lips a go. Embracing everything extra, frosted teals and cosmic turquoises, teamed with a nude eye, make for the perfect stand-out shade. Be it high-shine or a matte-finish – this is no casual jeans affair.
