Would you like to make a difference this Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
You can join 2,300 volunteers across the U.K. Who donate their time to support Look Good Feel Better UK (LGFB). You can help women and teenagers manage the visible side effects of their cancer treatment.
For those who don’t know, LGFB have been helping to face cancer with confidence for the past 22 years. It is the only international cancer support charity, providing practical and very effective free services for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of cancer treatment. LGFB dedicates itself in improving the wellbeing and self-confidence of people undergoing treatment or any type of cancer. Many beneficiaries tell us that LGFB helped them regain a sense of control and normality at a time when diagnosis and treatment had taken over their lives.
Andrea Mackrell, LGFB Regional Coordinator has told LGFB, “I love everything about it; the people you meet; the way you make people smile; using my skills to help others; the conversation and of course, the make-up. The feeling you get at a workshop when the ladies start chatting and laughing is so satisfying. These ladies are struggling with the emotional and physical side effects of their cancer treatment. We can’t wave a magic wand. I wish we could. But we can give them advice on looking their best, lift their spirits, boost morale and build self-confidence.
Some of the ladies will say, ‘I haven’t picked up my children up from school, been to the shops or seen friends since I was diagnosed, but today I will’. Which shows you what Look Good Feel better is all about.”
Calling all make-up artists & beauty therapists!
Calling all make up artists, are you qualified in make up and/or skincare? Can you spare a few afternoons a year? If so, LGFB are offering you the chance to help run their workshops. In order to become a beauty volunteer you will need to have a minimum of a year’s experience in cosmetics or beauty therapy and are skilled in the art of make-up application and/or skincare. Within the workshops you will be working with women who have undergone invasive and appearance changing cancer treatments and want your help! To register for the workshops, either through the website or over the phone. You will then be able to observe a workshop where you will see first-hand how they are running.
