WHAT COVER DO I NEED AND WHY? (Return to Top)

As a self employed hair and beauty professional, you have a duty of care to your clients, the general public and any staff you may have. If you fail to observe this duty of care then you could be faced with a claim for financial compensation.
We live in a society in which people are becoming more and more likely to take legal proceedings for compensation and the incidence of claims against hairdressers and therapists is on the increase. Nowadays it is not uncommon for large compensation claims to be made for minor damages and substantial legal fees are also added.

Would I be covered?.... If I accidentally spilt tint or wax on a client’s carpet? ….. If a client says they suffered damage from a treatment I carried out or a product I used?..... If I accidentally cut a client’s ear or burnt their skin? ….. If my employee had an accident while she was working for me? ….. If my equipment is lost or damaged?
Our liability policy provides cover for all these situations - read more below.

  • Public Liability Cover (included automatically)
  • Public Liability insurance covers financial damages and legal expenses as a result of the death, injury or damage to property suffered by members of the general public, caused by your business.

  • Professional Treatment Liability and Product Liability Cover (included automatically)
  • This protects you against claims for injury or damage caused by the treatments you carry out and the products you apply. Even if you have not been negligent, you may still be held liable for damages and injuries suffered as a result of products you use.

  • Employers Liability Cover (an optional cover which you must add if you have staff)
  • It is a legal requirement to have employers liability insurance if you have staff. This covers against the risk of accidental death, bodily injury and disease in the course of their employment.

  • Stock and Equipment in Transit (optional)
  • Provides insurance against accidental damage or loss of stock and equipment anywhere in the UK.
