Here are a few examples of problems that salon owners have found themselves caught up in when Legal Expenses cover proved to be worth its weight in gold:
1. Our salon owner's top stylist left and opened a salon within 400 yards of her former employer. This was contrary to the stylist's contract of employment. Salon Gold Legal Expenses assisted our policyholder in her action to stop the stylist trading. The court upheld the contract and the Legal Expenses policy paid the salon owner £1,250 for legal costs.

2. A salon owner caught an employee stealing stock. She phoned the Salon Gold Legal Expenses helpline and suspended the employee on full pay. Following careful investigation the employee was dismissed for gross misconduct. The employee took a claim against the salon owner to the Industrial Tribunal. The salon owner won the case and the Legal Expenses policy paid her defence costs of £6,500.

3. A salon owner interviewed a stylist for a job. Following the interview, our insured decided not to employ the stylist. The stylist accused the salon owner of sexual and racial discrimination. The Salon Gold Legal Expenses policy paid for the salon's successful defence and her legal costs amounting to £1,250 were paid.

4. Our insured was involved in a dispute with HM Customs & Excise who claimed he had under-paid his VAT contributions. The Legal Expenses policy employed the services of an independent accountant and successfully defended the salon owner. The accountant's fees of £4,500 were paid by the Legal Expenses insurance.
